Other details

What to bring:

  • Comfortable walking shoes – Valletta's historic streets are paved with limestone and include some gentle hills and steps, so comfortable footwear is highly recommended.

  • Hat and water (especially in summer) – Malta enjoys long, sunny days, and temperatures can become very warm. We recommend bringing a hat, sunscreen and a bottle of water to stay comfortable throughout the tour.

  • A warm jacket (during winter) – While Malta's winters are generally mild, Valletta can feel chilly due to strong coastal winds, particularly between November and March. A light or medium weight jacket is recommended.

Cancellation Policy

Free Cancellation: Full refund if cancelled up to 24 hours before the experience starts (local time).

    • Merchant Street

  • Does the tour include St. John's Co-Cathedral?

No. This is an outdoor walking tour and does not include entry into St. John's Co-Cathedral.

However, your guide will explain its fascinating history and provide recommendations should you wish to visit afterwards.

  • Is this tour suitable for cruise passengers?

    Absolutely.

Many of our guests arrive by cruise ship. The meeting point is around a 15-minute walk from the cruise terminal (or just a few minutes using the Barrakka Lift), making it an excellent shore excursion.

  • How difficult is the walk?

The tour is easy to moderate.

Valletta is generally flat, although there are a few gentle inclines and cobbled streets. We walk at a relaxed pace with regular stops for explanations and photographs.

    Comfortable walking shoes are recommended.

  • How long is the Valletta Walking Tour?

The tour lasts approximately 3 hours, including a short comfort break.

  • Is this tour suitable for children?

    Yes.

Families regularly join our tours. While the historical content is aimed primarily at adults, children are very welcome.

  • What should I bring?

    We recommend bringing:

    • Comfortable walking shoes

    • Water

    • Sunscreen

    • A hat during summer

    • A light jacket during winter

  • What happens if it rains?

The tour operates in most weather conditions.

Please dress appropriately for the forecast. In the event of severe weather, we will contact guests with any updates.

  • Are there toilet facilities during the tour?

    Yes.

A short comfort break is included roughly halfway through the tour where toilet facilities are available.

  • Is Valletta worth visiting?

    Definitely.

Valletta is a UNESCO World Heritage City and one of Europe's smallest capitals. It is famous for its Baroque architecture, the Knights of St. John, spectacular harbour views, and over 450 years of fascinating history.

  • Why choose a guided walking tour instead of exploring on your own?

A licensed guide helps you understand the stories behind Valletta's buildings, monuments, and hidden corners that are easy to overlook when exploring independently.

You'll leave with a much deeper understanding of Malta's history, culture, and everyday life.

  • Is the tour accessible?

Most of the route is accessible, but Valletta's historic streets include some uneven paving and occasional slopes.

If you have mobility concerns, please contact us before booking so we can advise whether the tour is suitable for your needs.

  • What makes Colour My Travel different?

Our tours are intentionally kept personal and engaging. Rather than simply listing dates and facts, our licensed guides combine history, local culture, architecture, traditions, and modern Maltese life to create an enjoyable experience for first-time visitors and returning travellers alike.

  • Can I cancel my booking?

    Yes.

You may cancel free of charge up to 24 hours before the scheduled tour for a full refund.

  • How much walking is involved during the tour?

The Complete Valletta Tour covers approximately 2 to 3 km (1.5 to 2 miles) over the course of around 3 hours. The walk is taken at a relaxed pace, with frequent stops while your licensed guide explains Valletta's fascinating history, architecture, and local culture.

Although Valletta is generally easy to explore on foot, the city features some gentle slopes, steps, and uneven limestone paving, so we recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes.

  • What happens if I arrive late?

We kindly ask all guests to arrive 10–15 minutes before the scheduled start time. The tour begins promptly to respect all participants and the guide's schedule.

If you think you may be running late, please contact us as soon as possible. While we'll do our best to assist, we cannot guarantee that you'll be able to join the tour once it has started, as the guide will already be leading the group through Valletta. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer refunds or reschedule bookings for late arrivals.
